19th century French Tabatiere rifle. Around 1870 the stocks were cut back and the barrels converted to become a shotgun. This conversion was conducted in Belgium, hence the Belgian proof marks. Many of these were sold to Africa. Markings on barrel includes "MP" with a crown (possibly Max Fliegenschmidt) and "ELG" with a star designating Belgian. No. 522. 50" long.
