Original US Civil war era M 1860 / 1840 Light Cavalry Saber / sword with scabbard. Some corrosion and pitting , grip in poor condition , Brass / bronze guard. The Sword is 41 3/4 overall . Blade about 35 1/2 and 1 1/4 wide at the widest part and is unmarked ( german or perhaps french ? ) Steel scabbard is 38 1/2 long . US Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber (aka "1859 New Pattern") This is the second sword that comes to mind when one imagines cavalry charges.
