Abraham Walkowitz (1878-1965) 17” x 13” framed image  14” x 8”  of famous Isadora Duncan, famous dancer, both a fluid ink and pencil hand drawing of her dancing in a sensual and yet graceful movement signed A. Walkowitz, lower right.

As early as 1908, Abraham Walkowitz created modernist compositions that were radically advanced for an artist working in the Americas. Championed by Alfred Stieglitz, an influential artist and art dealer of independent means, Walkowitz did not suffer the hardships many of the other artists of the decade between the Depression and the Second World War. His contribution to the New Deal came from his brush and voice as an advocate for expanding programs to employ more young artists in the WPA.
